America’s Healthcare Debate: Expectations vs. Results

In my ongoing coverage of Kidney Stone 2009, here’s what I expected of “The Greatest Healthcare System in the World” from ambulance to emergency room:

You know, a dozen docs waiting outside for me. Police escorts, ambulances that actually turned their lights and sirens on, etc.

Here’s what I got:

I kinda wanted the ambulance to deploy the cow-catcher, flip on the lights and scream the sirens. But, actually, they just drove up to the hospital. Not exactly what I would call “worth my money”.
