People have their opinions one way or another about public transit, but no one has the same reaction I do every time I see an IndyGo bus. My response? “Someone has to explain to me right the heck now why that dang G in “Go” isn’t an arrow.”
They’ve kinda got two logos going right now:
Because that “G”, which is so close to an arrow as it is, and would make perfect sense for a bus, drives me nuts, I made my own. I shortened the leaf to make it simpler and look less fat, dropped the word “Green”, because that seems like such a loaded word and changed the font up to be more contemporary. The current one has that jagged approach in all the letters that makes me think it’s falling apart and getting nipped at by something, which isn’t exactly something IndyGo needs to be reminded of.
I also dropped that large bar/I thing they had going on. I suspect it probably represented something and was probably clever, but it’s evidently too clever, because I’m a smart guy and I can’t figure out what it represents.
So, now that they’ve got that extra $6 Million in the bank, how about a new logo to let everyone know you’re on the up-and-up? I’ll even give it to everyone for free! Here’s the .eps file.
I agree. They have a good logo, they just need to spice it up a bit. And extend the current brand with complementary imagery. Here are my ideas:
