My local township stopped collecting glass, non-corrugated cardboard, and paper that isn’t newspaper for recycling. Hamlin Township continues to collect corrugated cardboard (shipping boxes), and plastic 1, 2, and 5, as well as metal.
It seems to me that every time I need to recycle something it’s plastic, and never qualifies for recycling. "Oh, that has a waxy coating." "Oh, we can’t recycle that part of the lid that’s adhered to itself." "Oh, we can’t take that, it has too much ink/grease/whatever." So on that front, I am annoyed so much seems to be manufactured at all with no care for the most common kinds of recycling.
The reason for this collective reduction in recycling is, "We can’t find a buyer."
As in, "We can’t possibly do something that ultimately does not return a profit for someone."
Or, put still another way: "We can’t just do things because they’re the right thing to do."
