My first website launched nearly twenty years ago in 2003. I’m old enough to remember when people first started saying “content is king” because the web was littered with glitzy websites that didn’t say much.
In the intervening years I’ve seen trends, fads, and shortcuts to rank, sell, and cajole people come and go. I’ve devoted my life to “humble copywriting” for the web, stories, books, and journalism that are approachable, sympathetic, and aggressive for my client’s best interests.
Because they get better quality that way. I built and sold a business that was focused on growth for growth’s sake. That came with tradeoffs in quality and the kinds of people and projects I could best support. So I’ve taken a new strategy: 7 clients maximum. Enough to keep me busy, financially supported, and leave time for the rest of my life.

Some of my favorites over the years have been for small businesses and nonprofits doing incredibly niche work. I enjoy the challenge and have been thrilled at the results over the years for them.
Yes. I like to write in the mornings, often early before anyone else is awake for the day. This has proven beneficial to me for knowing myself and beneficial to clients who get better work.
The only things that are needed quickly are usually emails announcing something or a press release. I’m happy to help with that if needed.
Yes, assuming your product or service is very good and there’s a market for it. ????
Nothing against those writers there and elsewhere. I’m sure they’re lovely people. The difference is I work on retainer to embed myself in your work. Like a great biographer who goes to live with or alongside the subjects he’s studying, you get a much better product that way.
I’d rather not slink back into the design and development of sites. I’m focused now on writing for the benefit of you and my career.
But I will provide documents that have everything you need to get a page or post published, such as the title, body, links, headings, meta description, and excerpt ready to copy and paste.
A book, genealogy research, and short-form posts on this blog and other upcoming projects.
